I live in a small community, and over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving three generations of children from many families. I know I’m making a difference, and I truly love what I do. My journey with the program began in 1984 when I was a parent. A teacher visited my home and helped both my child and me develop positive skills. My son had special needs at the time, and she worked tirelessly to ensure we got the support we needed.

When a cook position opened, I applied, and that’s where my passion for working with children began. I was encouraged to take Early Childhood Education classes, and after eight years, I became an Assistant Teacher. Another eight years later, I earned my degree and became a Master Teacher, one class at a time. I’ve been with North Coast Opportunities Head Start Child Development Program as a Substitute for Lake County for 40 years and still enjoy subbing a few days a week.
